Punctuations
Punctuations: Puncture, gelatin silver print, 2024, 11x14 in.

Punctuations is an ongoing series of gelatin silver prints made from single frames of 16mm motion picture film and double frames of 35mm still film, roughly measuring 1x1 inch squares and 1x3 inch rectangles. The Punctuations: Haikus are multiple exposures in the darkroom that form a collage on a single sheet of fiber paper. This ongoing series of 99 prints explores concrete poetry and the contemplative practice of ‘zikr,’ a rhythmic repetition of Divine attributes in the Islamic tradition.

Some images are repeated multiple times while others appear only once in the series. Some images are recognizable while others are blurry and inverses. Prints are installed as singles, diptychs, triptychs, and other configurations.
